December 17, 1980: Articles of Incorporation were filed for Moreland Wolfe Construction Inc., marking the start of a dream.
April 24, 1981: Jim Wolfe renamed the company to J.B. Wolfe Construction, setting out on his own without a partner to pursue his independent vision for custom homebuilding.
1982: Completed the company’s first new home, setting the stage for a legacy of craftsmanship and trust.
A Partnership Takes Shape
1987: David Schenck, Alice Wolfe’s brother, joined the company as Jim’s business partner, bringing a shared passion for quality and dedication to the growing business.
September 14, 1995: The company was renamed Wolfe Construction Inc., solidifying its identity as a trusted custom homebuilder.
A Period of Growth and Stability
1995–2014: Jim and David successfully ran the business together, building a reputation for quality and client-focused service.
2014: Alex Wolfe formally joined the company, leading the Service and Repair Division and contributing innovative ideas to support its growth.
2018: Alex became Chief Operating Officer, taking on a central role in shaping the company’s future while maintaining its long-standing values.

Transition to a New Era
March 31, 2020: Jim and Alice Wolfe purchased the remaining shares of Wolfe Homes from David Schenck, becoming sole owners.
January 1, 2024: Alex Wolfe purchased Wolfe Homes from Jim and Alice, stepping into ownership with a commitment to upholding the company’s legacy of excellence. Embracing the values and traditions that have earned the trust of clients for decades, Alex is focused on ensuring Wolfe Homes continues to provide exceptional craftsmanship and a seamless building experience, while also leading the company toward a bright and innovative future.
Jim Wolfe
Founder
Jim was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, and went to UNC for college. After graduation, he founded Wolfe Homes and has been a leading the legacy of renovating and building exceptional homes in the Triad since 1980. Jim started his career by framing and now enjoys building relationships with clients and understanding their desires for whichever construction projects they are dreaming of. On the weekend, you will find Jim working because he loves what he does.
Alex Wolfe
Owner
Alex was born and raised in Greensboro, NC, and is a proud graduate of UNCG. Having lived in Greensboro his entire life, Alex has been involved in the construction industry from a very early age. Now serving as the owner and Chief Operating Officer of Wolfe Homes, he is passionate about enhancing both the client and employee experience, ensuring that every project meets the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship. Outside of work, Alex loves reading with his wife, Josie, and going on family adventures with their son.
Douglas Arms
Sales Lead
Doug was born and raised in Charlottesville, VA and is a graduate of James Madison University. He has been living in Greensboro since 2010 where he met his wife, Katie. His love for Greensboro and home building brought him to Wolfe Homes. On weekends you can find Doug playing golf, backpacking in the mountains, or working on some project around his own home.
Rob Walt
Service & Repair Lead
Rob was born in Athens, GA, but has spent most of his life in Greensboro, NC. Rob’s passion for construction began at a young age, “working” alongside his father who owned his own construction company at the time. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a degree in business management, he joined the Wolfe Homes team and has loved being part of old spaces and homes being brought back to life. On the weekends you will find him working on personal projects, spending time outside, and enjoying fellowship with friends and his growing family.
Don Gwynn
CFO
Don was born and raised in Henderson, North Carolina. His academic journey started with a stint at Wake Forest University and he later graduated with a BA in Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill. His decision to join the Wolfe Homes team was driven by the exciting opportunity to contribute his expertise to a well-established brand in an industry for which he had an affinity. Outside of his professional life, Don enjoys outdoor adventures, particularly hiking, and spending time with his family.
