Celebrating 45 Years of Excellence: A New Chapter for Wolfe Homes
Since 1980, Wolfe Homes has been the enduring name in Greensboro—building and remodeling homes with an unwavering commitment to craftsmanship, integrity, and lasting client relationships. From our earliest projects to the homes we’re delivering today, one thing has never changed: our dedication to doing what’s right for our clients and creating spaces that enrich their lives. We’re honored to say that today we are building for the children of clients that Wolfe first served decades ago, and being chosen again by families for their second, third and fourth homes. That kind of generational trust is what makes 45 years so meaningful.
As we mark this milestone, we also celebrate an exciting new chapter in our company’s story—the passing of the torch from Founder Jim Wolfe to his son, Alex Wolfe. On January 1, 2024, Alex officially became the owner of Wolfe Homes, continuing the family legacy with the same high standards and core values that have defined us for nearly half a century.
The Legacy of Wolfe Homes
Jim Wolfe began this journey over four decades ago with a simple but powerful mission: to guide clients through their construction journey with honesty, quality, and care. Over the years, Jim built a reputation for standing by his word, treating everyone—clients, employees, and subcontractors—with respect, and delivering homes that were as beautiful as they were lasting.
Alex grew up immersed in that culture. From sweeping insulation in hot attics at age 10, to working on the Service team, to managing builds as a project manager, he’s lived and breathed the Wolfe Homes way. Those years instilled a deep understanding of what makes our company special: transparent communication, relentless attention to detail, and a genuine passion for the people we serve.
A Servant-Hearted Approach
Alex’s leadership philosophy is modeled after the example of Jesus—serving others with humility and leading with love.
“I think leadership is the responsibility to serve others—our clients, our employees, our subcontractors. It’s generosity, taking care of our people, and focusing on building lives just as much as homes. It’s loving people well and showing others the same grace we’ve been given.”
This servant-hearted approach is the heartbeat of Wolfe Homes. It shows up in everyday moments—grilling a meal for subcontractors, standing beside an employee in a hard season, or helping a refugee family find stability through homeownership. Being part of Wolfe Homes has never just been about dream homes. It’s about caring for people, serving Greensboro together, and building relationships that last far beyond the projects.
Reputation of Quality
While values and relationships define who we are, quality remains the standard by which we measure ourselves. For Wolfe Homes, quality is non-negotiable. It’s why our clients return to us, and it’s what gives us confidence knowing every home we build will stand the test of time. Our reputation of excellence has attracted the best craftsmen to our team, ensuring each home carries the quality that defines the Wolfe name.
This commitment to quality has been woven into Wolfe Homes from the very beginning. It’s not just a business principle—it’s part of our identity. Alex explains, “people call Wolfe Homes because they know what they’re getting- an expert guide, decades of proven process, the finest craftsmen, and subcontractors who are the best at what they do. Delivering the highest quality homes has earned us trust for more than four decades and it’s who we will continue to be.”
Continuing the Legacy
In 2024, Jim made the decision to transition ownership of Wolfe Homes. After more than a decade of leadership—including five years as Chief Operating Officer—Alex purchased the company, taking on the responsibility of ownership while continuing to work alongside his father.
Importantly, the change in ownership hasn’t changed who we are. While Jim gets more time with his wife and grandchildren, he’s still telling stories in the office, working with clients, and passionately walking job sites. Jim continues working at Wolfe Homes as Founder, while Alex serves as President—both fully invested in ensuring every client receives the same exceptional service Wolfe Homes is known for. Their collaborative dynamic—built on trust, mutual respect, and the occasional good-natured debate—only strengthens the company.
Looking Ahead
Alex brings not only a respect for tradition but a strength in operations and a love for problem-solving. His leadership is focused on rooting the company in four core values:
- Execute creative solutions – because we serve a creative God who equips us with insight and innovation.
- Deliver excellence – because our work is a reflection of our integrity and who we ultimately serve.
- Communicate transparently – because we value honesty, clarity, and trust.
- Serve others humbly – because our goal is not self-promotion, but blessing others through our work.
As Alex says, “While ownership has changed, my dad and I both believe one thing remains the same: people come first. We’re confident in where Wolfe Homes is headed, and we’re both here—still solving the challenges of construction, still passionate about creating beautiful homes, and still committed to making every project an excellent experience.”
Jim adds, “Who we are hasn’t changed. We’ve built Wolfe Homes on relationships, and we’re excited to keep serving Greensboro for another 45 years.”
Since 1980, it’s been our honor to build homes where Greensboro families grow, gather, and make memories. As we step into this next chapter, we’re humbled that you continue to trust Wolfe Homes as your builder. We’re excited to keep serving and taking care of people for generations to come.
